We became a chartered organization in 2017. At our start, we offered tutorials in R, Excel, Python, and SQL. We've expanded into also offering consulting, a yearly datathon, and networking.
We are data enthusiasts who are ready to face the technological revolution head on with the tools and know-how to suceed in today’s data driven society.
Binghamton University Data Science and Analytics (Or BUDSA, for short) aims to create a culture of knowledge sharing and problem solving on Binghamton’s campus. Through interactive student led tutorials in technical skills, we are helping Binghamton students prepare their resumes for the growing demand in the job market. Additionally, our discussions in data science and analytic’s creative and ingenius solutions to data problems will spread popularity of the field on our campus. Our third and final goal is to bring employers to campus to connect with students that have the analytical minds and technical know-how they are looking for.
Data science is an interdisciplinary field about processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms, either structured or unstructured, which is a continuation of some of the data analysis fields such as statistics, data mining, and predictive analytics.
Analytics is the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data.
